Konjac Gum (Glucomannan)

Additional information

Product Details

Glucomannan is a soluble fibre obtained from the rather ugly tubers of the konjac plant. Also known as the elephant yam, these tubers can grow to more than 5kg in weight! Glucomannan fibre has been used for thousands of years as a dietary stable, and as a traditional medicine to aid weight loss.

Glucomannan fibre acts like a sponge and swells on contact with water to resemble wallpaper paste. This paste is resistant to digestion, and as it passes through the digestive tract it helps you stay full so you eat less. Glucomannan fibre also stimulates bowel movements, slows the absorption of glucose (to reduce blood sugar swings) and has beneficial effects on cholesterol and dietary fats. If you need to lose weight and lower your cholesterol, glucomannan is a great choice.
